With this app, you can link your shop to your Facebook business account, so that you can use the Facebook catalogue and conversion tracking with Facebook Pixel. You can find the app in the CCV Shop App Store.
Facebook Pixel
The Facebook pixel can be used for tracking user behaviour. With this app, you don't have to add it to the code yourself anymore, only select it when linking. Currently, the following pixel events are transmitted:
- PageView: viewing a page
- ViewContent: viewing a specific product
- Purchase: closing an order
Catalogue
On Facebook, you can use a catalogue to collect information about items you want to sell or advertise with. If your Facebook account has a catalogue, you can select it during the linking process, which makes it possible to redirect products from your shop to it and automatically update it when changes occur.
Installing the app
Go to Starting Point > Appstore, search for the app "Facebook Business Extension" and click on activate.
Linking and setting up
Before linking your shop to Facebook, it is advisable to first create a pixel and/or catalogue via Facebook (depending on which functionalities you want to use) if you do not already have these. For assistance, please refer to the Facebook Business Help Centre: https://www.facebook.com/business/help/.
Next, go to Starting Point > My Webshop > Settings > Social Media > Facebook Business Extension, and click on "Sign in with Facebook". You will see a popup where you can log in with your Facebook account and select a Pixel and Catalog.
Furthermore, you can change and view a number of settings here:
Turn on/off the use of the pixel and the catalogue
Linking product states:
In your shop you can choose the state of your product yourself, but Facebook only knows 3 states: New, refurbished and used. That is why you can link these options to your self-set/created product state. In addition, you can also set a default for when your redirected product does not have one of these linked product states.
Products on Facebook:
For Facebook, some fields are mandatory to fill in before a product appears on Facebook. So when editing a product, check whether you have filled in the following mandatory fields:
- Under the Facebook tab: Link product on Facebook to Yes.
- Under the General tab: Product name and short product description.
- Under the Metadata tab: Brand, EAN number and/or MPN number.
If a product still does not come through after these settings, you can find the problem via Start > My Webshop > Settings > Social media > Facebook Business Extension under the heading Synchronization problems.
Additional fields for Facebook:
On Facebook there are several extra fields in the Catalog that you can fill in to show more information about your product on Facebook. These fields can be found via My Products > Manage products > Change product > Facebook. These fields are not shown in your Webshop and are only for Facebook itself.
