Many online shoppers first want to compare products with each other before finally ordering the product that best meets their needs(s). The Product Comparator app makes this easy for customers. You can install the app 'Product comparator' via the app store in the maintenance tool of your webshop.
When, in addition to standard features such as the weight or EAN number of a product, you also add specific product features, customers can add the products they find interesting to a comparison. These products are then compared to each other based on the specific product characteristics you have assigned to the products. This way, the customer does not have to open each product in a separate tab and click back and forth to compare these products with each other.
Example of the product comparator:
You sell various types of smartphones and assign product properties such as screen diagonal, operating system, resolution and working memory to each smartphone. A customer can then compare different phones based on these properties. He can then easily choose the smartphone that best suits his needs.
As soon as you have installed the app 'Product comparator' you can find the settings here: Starting point > My Webshop > Settings > Layout > Product comparator
You can turn on the Product Comparator by turning on the 'Show compare on pages' button via the toggle. When this is enabled a 'Compare' button will be shown on the category- and product pages, modular pages and in the search results.
In addition, you will also find the various options you may or may not want to show when the customer starts to compare products, such as:
Article number
Do you use your article numbers purely for your own administration? Then these are probably not of added value to show to your customers in the comparator.
EAN
Do you have products with an EAN number? Then you can show these EAN numbers in the comparator so that customers can be sure that it's actually the one unique product they want to compare.
Brand
For example, do you offer laptops of various brands? Include 'Brand' in the comparator, so that a customer who is looking for a laptop of a specific brand, can easily compare the laptops of this brand.
Sales per
Don't you sell items by the standard per piece, but sometimes per two pieces or per dozen? Then it's useful to show this in the comparator to avoid a skewed comparison. Customers can then see the number of items sold at a glance and get an accurate idea of the unit price.
Weight
For some products such as laptops, weight is one of the determining factors for many consumers. So do you offer a product where weight is important? Then show 'Weight' in the comparator.
You can find
Do you sell not only new laptops but also used ones? Then include 'State' in the comparator so that consumers can consciously compare new or used products.
Specs from the manufacturer
Do products from your range have manufacturer specifications that are important to consumers? If so, include this property in the comparator. Think of the first or second edition of a book, or the number of pages. Chances are that customers will want to compare.
