Using the Product attributes app, you can add attributes to your products. Attributes are also called the options to a product. Think of a t-shirt in the colours yellow, red, blue and green, but also sizes S, M, L and XL, for example. This functionality even has support to enable stock per combination. Besides the ability to display options, it is also possible to have a text filled in by the customer. You can specify whether a particular attribute is mandatory.
Installing the Product attributes app
If you created a webshop via CCV Shop before April 2023, the app will already be installed by default. If you have created a webshop after April 2023, you will find the instructions below to install the app.
- Log into your maintenance tool via /maintenance or via this link.
- Go to the App Store via Home / App Store and search for 'Product attributes'.
- Install the app.
Note: If you use Multishop and use it to manage several products with attributes, you will also have to install the app for each underlying webshop.
Creating attributes
Below there will be a brief description on how create attributes.
1. Creating attributesets
You can create an attributesets at "Starting point > My Products > Attributesets". An attributeset is for example a “color” with options such as yellow, red, blue and green. Click on "Add attributeset" to add a new set, and name it "Color." The option 'Option menu' is good for this option. You can then add separate attributes and specify a standard price.
1. Adding attributes.
Once all attributes have been created, they can be assigned to a product. This can be done at "Starting point > My Products > Product management” Click on the (green) attributes icon to add attributes to the product. You can add a complete set here at once or per attribute by selecting it and then pressing "Add". You can also adjust the price or adjust the sorting of the attributes.
2. Set stock attributes
If you do not want the stock on the product, but on each attribute, you must indicate this with the product on the 'Stock' tab. Change the field 'Stock type' to 'Attribute'. When you click on 'Apply', the product overview will indicate that stock is per attribute. Click on the attribute icon, and then tab 'overview' on the stock per combination.
3. Unique data per attribute combination
Per attribute combination you can further process the following unique settings: own images, on / off, short description, article number, EAN, SKU, expected delivery time (if not in stock), standard delivery time.
Please note! It is not possible to store an attribute for just one attribute. You must have added at least 2 attributes (possibily per attribute set)
Please note! You can not add more than 100 attribute combinations per product.
Attribute sets
In this chapter, we will deal with the attribute sets. You can find them by taking following steps at the backend of your store: Go to “Starting point > My Products > Attribute sets.”
Management
The lay-out of available attributes can be set at the backend through “Starting point > My Products > Attribute sets”.
A set can be added with the “Add attribute sets” button, example, “Size”. In the follow-up screen, you fill in the name and choose your type. Available types are:
- Optional menu
- Text field
- Mandatory text field
Optional Menu
The options menu provides a selection menu for the product in your webshop. For example, if you have chosen "Size", you can add attributes to your set. This is done by means of the "Add attribute" button. A block is added for each time you press this button, this becomes an attribute in the Attribute Set. Here you can enter "S", "M", "L" or "XL" for example. Optionally, you can enter additional costs for the attribute. If, for example, your customer opts for the product in size XL, extra costs or discounts are calculated for this.
Text field
This option provides a text field with your product. You customer can enter a text here. For example, you name your attribute “Size”. If a customer orders your product, he can enter a text himself, such as “5 metres”, “30 centimetres” or “40x50x70 cm”. If you opt for a mandatory text field, your customer is obliged to enter a text.
Mandatory field
This option enables you to designate a field as mandatory. Your customer then should make a choice first before being able to continue with the order.
Application
If you have compiled your attribute sets, you can add them to your products. You do this via "Starting point> My Products> Manage products". In the list of products, choose "Attributes" In the tab "Attributes" you can add an attribute or an entire set. By clicking the "Add Attribute" button, a screen opens where you can choose which attributes or the entire set you want to add. When you have finished choosing what you want to add, click the "Apply" button (figure 3).
After this, the attributes with the corresponding sets can be seen in the "Attributes" block. You can then drag them in the desired order yourself. If you add more than 2 attributes, a second block is created called "Attribute combinations". Here all possible combinations are created. After saving the product you can manage the following items per combination:
- On off
- Description (also available in multiple languages)
- Article number
- EAN
- SKU
- Expected delivery time if not in stock
- Standard delivery time (also available in multiple languages)
- Sell more products than stock
- Pictures
If your customer chooses a product, the above information will be shown. The price is possibly recalculated.
Overview and filters
When adding attributes to a product, attribute combinations are created. These come in the "Attribute combinations" block and can only be adjusted after the product has been stored (figure 4).
In this overview it is possible to filter by pressing the "Filter" button, and only show the attribute combinations that meet the conditions. For example, only the combinations with size 38 (figure 5).
You can also sort the columns by one of the values by clicking on the name of the column.
Groupactions
It is possible to edit the attribute combinations via group actions. There are three group actions available: update stock, upload photos and activate / deactivate. (Figure 6).
Update Stock
With the group action update stock you can change the stock for a large number of attribute combinations at once (figure 7).
Upload photos
There is the possibility to provide multiple combinations with the same photo. For example a shoe with the combinations green S, green M, green L, green XL with an image of a green shoe. This is done through the group action "upload photos" in the "Attribute combinations" block (figure 8).
Activate /-deactivate
With this group action you can quickly indicate for multiple combinations whether they should be on or off (figure 9).
Import & Export
Product attributes and combinations could be imported by means of the product import. You need to install the app “Import products v2.0” in the App Store. The example file can be generated at the “Attribute export”. For this, you need to install the app “Product export”. Subsequently, the export can be generated via “Starting point – My products” – Export Product attributes -CVS”. For export, external admission should be set. This option can be found at “Starting point – My Web shop – Settings – General – Protection external admission”. In the block “Admission” you will find the option “Product attribute”. Select this, then click the button “Apply” at the bottom of the page.
