It can be quite challenging to make your web shop easy to find in search engines. The most well-known search engines are Google, Yahoo! and Bing. These three engines are used in over 95% of searches.
Check out the tips below to increase the search result rankings of your web shop.
1. Domain name
A well-chosen domain name has a positive effect. If you sell snow tires in the Dutch market, for instance, a domain name like www.winterbanden.nl will obviously be one of your best choices. The extension is also important. If your sales efforts are also targeted at the Belgian market, the domain .be is worth considering. If you wish to access the European market, extensions like .de, .eu, .fr or .com are also important.
2. SEO aliases
For pages, categories and products, you can enter SEO aliases that will also have a positive effect (like the domain name). For instance, www.winterbanden.nl/vredestein/ would be a good category SEO alias.
3. Links to your website
Link-building is important. Keep in mind that one link on one high-traffic website is more effective than multiple links on several low-traffic sites.

- Make sure your texts are unique.
- The website URL should not be longer than 64 characters.
These days, you need to focus on more than just the findability of your web shop in search engines. You should also explore the options for social media channels like Google Plus, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Your products can also be marketed on Facebook using the special Facebook link.
