As a web shop owner, you would want the product images on your web shop to look as good as possible. Although our system supports different sizes and resolutions, in this article you will find the sizes and resolutions we recommend to use when uploading product images.
By default, all images larger than 1980 pixels in width or length are scaled down by the system before the image is saved. Therefore, we recommend to upload images not larger than 1980 x 1980 pixels.
In addition, we also recommend keeping images under 200kb when possible. Smaller images have a positive effect on page speed (the speed in which a page on your web shop can be loaded). A faster page speed is good for your SEO.
You can upload images in JPG/JPEG, PNG and GIF file formats.
Note: Some new themes, such as Oliver and Macro, also use the WebP format. You cannot upload WebP images yourself, as the system automatically converts it for you. This format was developed by Google and is smaller than .JPG, .PNG and .GIF, allowing your pages to load faster.
Product page
The ratio of the image does not matter for the new product views (TabLayout and SplitLayout). All images work for the product view, the zoom functionality and the lightbox.
However, we do recommend to upload the images in 1 of these ratios:
1:1, 3:4, 4:3, 2:3, 3:2
Category page
For the category view, the ratio in which you upload the image does matter. This is different per theme (and sometimes different per category view). By default, we recommend the following per theme:
- Canso: 4:3
- Enoza: 4:3
- Martoni*: 1:2, 1:1
- Ceyda*: 7:6, 4:3
- Macro*: 3:4, 3:2
- Oliver: 4:3
- Levi*: 1:1, 6:7, 10:17
- Ivy: 1:1
- Mila*: 5:9, 1:2
- Exo*: 1:1, 5:8
- Jade*: 1:1 (Tile view), 2:3
*This theme supports different ratios. However, we recommend to choose 1 ratio, so that your category view will look consistent.
