This article describes how you can use the Facebook web shop module of CCV Shop web shops. This module offers an easy way of adding products to the Facebook page of your company/web shop. This Facebook app is intended to enable you to showcase a selection of your products on Facebook, for example to present special offers to your customers or to introduce your latest product range. The main purpose is to ensure your customers continue following you on Facebook and to allow you to use such features as the Wall to introduce new products and your latest news and developments.
It is good to know that when customers click on “Order” in the Facebook shop, they are automatically routed to your web shop. The entire ordering process and implementation of stock data, attributes, etc. will therefore take place in your own web shop. This means there is only one order process and you will receive your orders through one site.
This module requires an additional subscription. You can request one in your maintenance panel under “My subscription > Upgrade subscription”, where you can select Facebook Shop. Please note! You only need the additional subscription if you have an old package / subscription with CCV shop.
It is also good to know that the functionality of this link depends in part on the functionality of Facebook and how it goes about implementing new developments. Please note that our support does not include the functionality and use of Facebook. We do support the link between Facebook and CCV Shop.
Please note! You can only use this facebook store if you have 2,000 likes on your business page.
How to create a Facebook page
If you do not already have a Facebook page for your company, you will first need to create one. A company page is always linked to an existing Facebook account. It is an additional “environment” within Facebook managed by you, the owner. Follow the steps below to create a company page:
Step 1: Go to http://facebook.com and log in using your existing account.
Step 2: Click on “Create a Page” at the bottom of the page.
Step 3: Select “Company, Organization or Institution”.
Step 4: Select the category for your company and enter your company name.
Step 5: Read and accept the terms and conditions.
Step 6: This takes you to “Step 1, set profile picture”. Here, you can upload an image file from your computer or import an image from your website by entering the relevant link.
Step 7: Click on “Continue” to move on to “Step 2, Get Fans”.
Step 8: On this page, you can invite your friends to make your page more popular. You can also inform your customers of the new Facebook page by importing your contacts.
Step 9: Click on “Continue” to move on to “Step 3, General details”.
Step 10: Here, you need to enter the link to your web shop, and you can enter information about your web shop (max. 255 characters).
Step 11: Click on “Continue” to create your page.
Your company now has its very own Facebook page. You can easily switch between your new Facebook page and your personal Facebook page. To go to your personal Facebook, simply click on the Facebook logo at the top of the page. On your personal page, there will be a button on the left hand side of the page linked to your company page (under the header “Pages”). Click on it to go to your company page. To return to your personal page, click on the Facebook logo at the top of the page.
How to add CCV Shop Facebook to your web shop
Now that you have your own company page, adding the “CCV Shop Webshop App” is very easy. Click on the search field at the top of the Facebook page. Enter “CCV Shop Webshop App” to go to the page of CCV Shop Webshop App. If you are unable to find it, you can also use the following URL: https://apps.facebook.com/biedmeerwebshopapp/
Once you are on the page, click on the link “Add to my page” on the left hand side. A new window will open. You should be able to see your own company page listed here. Click on “Add to page” next to your listing. The Webshop App has now been added to your company page. You can check this by returning to your company page (click on the Facebook logo at the top of the page, and then on your company page on the left hand side).
There will be a new “Web shop” link. Click on it to open the Facebook Webshop App. A notification “Page ID not known to system” will be shown. How to add the Page ID will be explained in the next section.
Note: If you want to change the page name “Web shop”, go to the Wall of your company’s Facebook page and click on “Edit page” at the top of the page. Click on “Apps” on the left hand side of the page. Our Webshop App will be listed as “CCV Shop webshop app”. You can change the name of the page by clicking on “Edit settings”.
How to add the Facebook Page ID in the maintenance tool
To be able to add items to Facebook, you will need to enter your Facebook Page ID in our maintenance tool. When you have successfully completed the above steps, the Webshop App page will display the notification “Page ID not known to system”, followed by your Page ID. This Page ID (a long number) needs to be entered under “Starting point > My web shop > Settings > Social media > Facebook web shop”, under the header “Facebook Page ID”. Once completed, the link will be functional and you can start adding items to your Facebook web shop.
How to add items to your Facebook web shop
Adding items to your Facebook web shop is really easy. Go to product management in the maintenance tool. If you completed the above steps successfully, you should see a transparent Facebook logo next to each product. By clicking on it, the logo will turn blue and the item will be added to Facebook. You can also add items to Facebook by changing or adding a product on the “Options” tab. Selecting the checkbox of a product will add it to your Facebook page.
Additional settings for Facebook web shop
A number of settings are available under “Starting point > My Web shop > Settings > Social Media > Facebook web shop”. The most important one is adding a header image to give your Facebook web shop a unique and distinctive look. There is also a setting you can activate to require visitors to like your page first before they can access your web shop.
The advantage of this is that when customers like your page, they will automatically follow you and see your messages on their timeline. This will make communication with your customers easier. If you choose to activate this option, we highly recommend adding a picture under “Facebook Like picture”. This picture will be shown when a visitor likes your page. If you don’t choose a picture, it may not be clear to your customers they need to like you first before they can access your web shop.
Another important option is “Allow Facebook comments in product view”. Activating this will add a Facebook discussion field in the product view in the Facebook web shop. This will allow customers to discuss the product. The advantage is that these comments will be shown on the visitor’s timeline so that they can share it with their friends. Comments entered by visitors will help to expand your brand awareness.
